Rent S/S Stockholm in Stockholm

Strömma Kanalbolaget's Pompous Flagship

Rent the magnificent S/S Stockholm (built 1931), Strömma Kanalbolaget's largest ship, for parties, weddings, lunches, dinners, mingles, or transport - a stately party venue for those who want to invite to a larger event. The ship is beautifully decorated in contemporary Art Deco style and is suitable for parties between 130-250 people depending on the arrangement.

On the upper deck is the large, elegant main dining room with a bar and space for a buffet table. The slightly smaller and brightly decorated "Ladies' Saloon" is in the stern. On the main deck in the forward part is the darker and elegant "Gentlemen's Saloon" and in the stern is the "Bar Lounge" with sofas, tables, and chairs. The three salons can all be used for smaller meetings. S/S Stockholm has a generous sundeck that is larger and more spacious than other traditional archipelago ships.

Food & Drink on Board S/S Stockholm

The restaurateurs on S/S Stockholm are the duo Hjalmar Litzén and Daniel Tingström. They have worked together and run restaurants and pubs around the world for many years. On the menus are seasonal and locally produced food and drinks with, among other things, ingredients from the archipelago. The food is prepared from scratch in the kitchen on board S/S Stockholm.

In collaboration with our restaurateurs, Stromma is constantly working to reduce our environmental impact. Our restaurants are free of single-use plastic and we only use environmentally friendly cleaning products. We are proud to serve only environmentally and fair-traded coffee and tea on board. Please read more about our sustainability work.

S/S Stockholm is also available to rent for a traditional Christmas dinner with a classic Christmas dinner buffet.

The History of S/S Stockholm

In 1931, the ship was built at Oskarshamn's Mekaniska Verkstad for the Royal General Post Office and named S/S Öland. For many years, she ran between Kalmar and Färjestaden since she was specially built to withstand the harsh winters with thick ice formation. In 1958, she was sold to the Finnish shipping company Vasa-Umeå AB, where she was converted into a car ferry and named Korsholm III. Until 1967, she operated the route between Vaasa and Umeå. In 1998 she was ready to be scrapped, but instead Strömma Kanalbolaget bought her and renovated her in the contemporary art deco style from the 30s.

On May 4, 2000, she was christened S/S Stockholm by King Carl XVI Gustaf at a grand ceremony at Stadshuskajen in Stockholm.
