At first glance these boats may seem somewhat cramped, but remember that most of their cruises take place in a canal, and the boats are built to the standards and dimensions of these canals.
The vessels are all quite similar, but each one has its unique features. Juno is the world’s oldest vessel with cabins, Wilhelm Tham is particularly beautiful, and on Diana you can find double beds and smart logistical solutions.
The MS Juno was completed in 1874, the same year that the Grand Hotel was inaugurated at Blasieholmen in Stockholm, that Winston Churchill and Elsa Beskow were born, and that Levi Strauss patented his famous jeans with metal rivets.
The MS Wilhelm Tham was finished in 1912, which was the same year that the Titanic sank, that Stockholm hosted the Olympic Games, and that Raoul Wallenberg was born.
The MS Diana was delivered in 1931, the year the Empire State Building was inaugurated in New York, that both Boris Yeltsin and Mikhail Gorbachev were born, and that New Delhi became the capital city of India.
When Diana was completed, she and her canal cruise had already been advertised for ten years to Swedes returning home who wished to experience their native country one last time. One thing that distinguishes Diana from the other two boats is that the saloon and dining room are integrated, and she is also the most practical of the boats when it comes to receiving larger groups of people.
All three vessels had a face-lift in 2003, when the cabins, saloons and dining rooms were refurbished. The renovations were carried out with great care and all details were preserved to maintain an authentic atmosphere on board.
