A unique experience

Regardless of how many days you choose to spend on board one of the fantastic vessels – Juno, Diana or Wilhelm Tham –your only regret will be not having made the journey earlier.

There is something breathtaking about travelling through Sweden the same way as they did in the nineteenth century. Forget about stressed passengers on the high-speed trains, checking in at the airport or avoiding speed fiends on the motorway – on these boats it is always plain sailing.

You can choose to enjoy pleasant company, excursions and delicious food for two, three, four or six days. It is always all-inclusive, which is something that is appreciated by all on board. There are no hidden extra fees for excursions, which are also guided in three languages (Swedish, English and German).

If you decide to travel for two or three days, the shipping company presumes that you have chosen to focus on cuisine and the experience of being on board. Everything will be done to help you unwind and enjoy life on the boat. If you choose a slightly longer journey of four to six days, you will also have time to enjoy a great many sights during the trip.

One attraction that is experienced on all cruises, however, is the Berg locks, including the Carl Johan flight of locks. The locks in the town of Berg are also known as “the great lift” as the boats are lifted or lowered a total of 28.8 metres. It is popular to disembark here and watch the lock process working from dry land.

Other stops you can enjoy include Läckö Castle, Karlsborg Fortress, Vadstena Abbey, Motala Motor Museum and Birka. Information about which stops are made on which cruises is available on the website.

The atmosphere on board is private at the same time as conversations flourish wherever you look. Here you truly have the opportunity to create acquaintances for life.

A great anecdote is the one of two gentlemen who had engaged in conversation during a cruise. The first man was German and the other was from England. As the subject of conversation steered towards the Second World War, it turned out that the two men had fought against each other during the war. They became very good friends and continued to exchange letters until the Englishman passed away. A wonderful story that reminds us just how small the world really is.

As the glittering water and luscious greenery surround the boat, your everyday stresses will drift away, leaving time to appreciate discussions about the simpler things in life. On board, you feel like one with the surroundings, and wish that the journey would never end.
